  • 4 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 cup dairy sour cream
  • Prepared icing, optional
  • Cookie sprinkles, optional

In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt; set aside. In another bowl, combine butter, sugar, eggs, vanilla and sour cream. Add dry ingredients a little at a time. Mixture will be sticky. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.

Heat oven to 350°F.

Roll dough out on floured surface to about ¼-inch thickness. Cut with cookie cutters and place on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until light brown. If desired, cookies can be decorated with frosting and candy sprinkles when completely cool.
